Neatness & Speed -Is that all that matters?

McDonald's stresses on its efficiency and boasts that Ur orders will be served within a minute. When it comes to your health is that what matters the most. The world leader in fast food and holding the 11th position amongst the major brands needn't worry about obesity and health problems. There was the issue of Beef Oil in French Fries. Do they think that neatness can compensate for such tactics , than they are sadly mistaken!

Jumbo King Vada Pav

For all those who have it against McDonald's there is the new desi Jumbo King Vada Pav! Yes our own desi burger.Vada Pav is the desi version of the burger. Spicy potato sabzi is coated with besan and then deep fried. That is the vada. The vada is then put in a pav along with chutney (mostly garlic chutney) and served piping hot.Eureka!! Your favourite snack is ready. It is a very popular road side snack in Mumbai, as it is very filling and light on your pocket too. You will find a vada pav gaadi on almost every street in Mumbai. Most of these vada pav gaadis, found at strategic locations like outside offices, school, railway stations etc. score negative points in hygiene and cleanliness. However, there is one vada pav place that scores over all the vada pav gaadis, and that is Jumbo King.Jumbo King Vada Pav (referred as JK hereafter)JK is a fast food chain that pledges to make the humble vada pav world class .Started about three years ago, this fast food chain specializes in vada pav. They (JK) plan to make the vada pav as popular as the burger. And they have introduced the franchisee concept, (which is something unheard of in the road side snacks business), something similar to McDonald's. A grand expansion plan of having at least 1000 outlets is the next target.

The Golden Arches: how much it matters!

To think that the McDonald brothers were just trying out some designs and the golden arches were a complete accident is hard to believe right? But it is so. And whats more they themselves would have never dreamt about the success and hype created by their logo.To most of the American travellers the sign is a refreshing one, reminding them about their home country mixed with a feeling of pride and complete trust in a foreign country where the food is alien to them. The logo is not just an huge'M'.It stands for a lot whole more than that.Even though most Americans do have problem with McDonald's where the health issues are concerned they cannot resist themselves from taking pride in this huge MNC company. For the McDonald brothers started out in the smallest of ways and have reached this height. Well they must have definitely got something right!

Fast food - how much it influences Life?

As the days get shorter and the work pile bigger, there isnt much time left for ppl to relax. Then it doesnt seem such a big deal where u hav ur dinner from and whether its harmful for u as long as its tasty and fills u. Moreover u get to spend some quality time with ur frnds/ family. But very few ppl are aware of the effects of fast food and how much it influences or has a say in our health. Lets take the case of McDonalds: In September 2002, McDonald's issued a statement announcing a significant reduction of trans fats(Trans fats are formed when liquid vegetable oils go through a chemical process called hydrogenation. Common in a range of food products — biscuits, chips, doughnuts, crackers — the hydrogenated vegetable fat is used by food processors because it is solid at room temperature and has a longer shelf life. The Harvard School of Public Health think that 30,000 or more premature heart disease deaths are caused each year by trans fats from partially hydrogenated oils in food supplies. ) in its fried menu items — french fries, chicken McNuggets, Filet-O-Fish, Hash Browns and crispy chicken sandwiches — with the introduction of improved cooking oil in all of its 13,000 restaurants. The change was supposed to be completed by February 2003. However, McDonald’s encountered operational issues and the oil was not changed. An anti-trans fat group claims that McDonald's deliberately allowed the public to be misled."Based on a document that we have received, McDonald's has spent a grand total of $457.50 to get the word out to the public that it has not changed the oil. Meanwhile, it has been reaping millions of dollars in additional profits from customers who believe that they are getting the new healthier oil."Legal action has forced McDonald’s to give effective notice to the public that the oil was not changed. In fact, McDonald’s is required to spend up to $1.5 million on publishing notices to ensure that the public knows the status of its trans fat initiative. If the cost of publishing the notices is less than $1.5 million, the difference will be donated to the American Heart Association. McDonald’s will also donate $7 million to the American Heart Association. But when all is said and done , do u think that misleading the ppl and being caught in the act has lead them to donate the money ? Otherwise if nobody had pointed it out wouldnt they have continued with pretense of providing food prepared in healthier food?
